The company has its foundation in Gardy’s strong international business background and aesthetic sense, formed by a combination of hard work, travel and an appreciation for different cultures. Living, working and competitively riding in Europe and the US as well as fluently speaking French, German and Dutch, Gardy is immersed in both the business and equestrian worlds on two continents.
Gardy learned to ride at an early age, and competed in Hunter Shows in the United States throughout her youth. Today she rides dressage and regularly competes her horses in Virginia.
Following graduation from Tufts University in 1990 with a BA in International Relations and French Language & Literature, Gardy returned to Europe, where she first lived and worked in Munich, Germany.
After receiving her MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management in the Netherlands, Gardy joined Citibank in Germany, and then in the UK. In 2003 Gardy moved back to the US and founded Gardy Bloemers – Fine Stable Wares. Through decorating her own residences and sourcing a wide range of furnishings in the countries where she worked and lived, Gardy developed a unique sense of style and an appreciation of where to source high quality, exclusive items.
As generations of her family have appreciated hand-made Dutch tiles, so can today’s equine enthusiast, for example. The Winslow tile range depicts steeple-chasing scenes and was developed in conjunction with a world-renowned Dutch tile manufacturer. Every product sold in the business has a similar story to tell, which Gardy would be happy to share with you.
